Introduction of Ark Dorcas Care
方舟多加关怀隶属爱德基金会方舟多加专项项目，专注于患儿关怀及生命关怀领域。目前设有两大公益项目: 方舟之家及方舟多加生命关怀项目。
Ark Dorcas Care is under the Ark Dorcas Charity Program of the Amity Foundation, which specializes in caring for sick children and end-of-life patients. It includes two projects: Ark Home and Ark Dorcas Life Care Project.
方舟之家 Ark Home
在大城市医院附近，有一群需要关注的爸爸妈妈，她们的孩子罹患恶性肿瘤，即常人闻之色变的癌症。远途来沪治疗的他们，不得不借住在医疗资源集中的大医院附近。孩童治疗期间，家人们除了长久承受精神压力，还要面对高价租房、失学失伴失业、家庭关系、长期放化疗康复、医疗咨询求助等困境需要。
In the vicinity of downtown hospitals, there is a group of parents in need of special care. Their children suffer from malignant tumor, also known to people as fearsome cancer. They have to travel a long way to Shanghai or other big cities with better medical resources for treatment. During the period, families have to endure persistent mental stress and confront difficulties including high rents, children’s dropping out of school and losing companion, parents’ losing jobs, tense family relationships, long-term radiotherapy and chemotherapy as well as seeking medical consultation and help.
许多爸爸妈妈日夜“借宿”在医院楼道、大厅座椅。而租赁房屋设施、卫生环境堪忧，不利肿瘤治疗与康复。为关爱癌症儿童、病友家庭，一群城市志愿者积极行动起来，搭建充满爱与盼望的“方舟之家”（简称小家），专门提供住宿与关怀的公益慈善服务。
Many parents have to stay overnight in hospital corridors or sleep on hospital lobby seats, for the sanitation conditions of the apartments they might afford are worrying and not good for the treatment and recovery of tumor. For caring cancer children and their families, a group of volunteers are in action to build up “Ark Home” (Little Home for short) with hope and love.
方舟之家不但在生活上为病童家庭提供了一片遮风挡雨的屋檐，更是以心换心，真诚关怀。结疗回家的病童家长常常为方舟里其他生病的孩子寄来食品或日用品。
Ark Home not only provides a shelter for families with sick children but also offers heartfelt care. Parents of children who have completed treatment and go back home often send food and everyday items to other sick children in Ark, showcasing the love and compassion within.
我们也用创新改善重症患儿体验。2023年5月，方舟邀请了安宁病房的医护人员、方舟之家的患儿家长，艺术从业者及爱心志愿者一起以“重疾的艺术疗愈”为主题，举办了一场有意思的头脑风暴创作坊。大家聚集在一起跳出常规思路，给出了有创意的解决方案。在半年不到的时间，大家提出的音乐疗愈，植物疗愈，芳香疗愈，茶艺，手指操等，统统都落地在方舟在临汾医院和迎博医院的志愿服务当中了。不过方舟可不单单是艺术的搬运工，我们更是改造者和创造者。结合方舟独有的生命教育理念，我们以五道人生“道爱”、“道谢”、“道歉”、“道别”和“道路”的主题串联艺术元素，赋予艺术生命的气息，让艺术服务重症患者，提升患者的价值感和意义感。在病中依然有平安有喜乐。
We also use innovation to improve the experience of critically ill children. In May 2023, the Ark organized a workshop where medical staff, parents of sick kids, artists, and volunteers brainstormed about using art to help people with serious illnesses. They came up with cool ideas like music, plant therapy, and more, and started using them in two hospitals. The Ark isn't just about using art; we're about changing and creating new things. We link art elements with the themes of the "Five Paths of Life" - "Path of Love", "Path of Gratitude", "Path of Apology", "Path of Farewell", and "Path of the Way", infusing art with the breath of life. This approach allows art to serve patients with serious illnesses, enhancing their sense of value and meaning. Even in illness, there is still peace and joy.
2022年10月至2023年12月，我们一共接待了227个家庭579名病友入住。举办关怀活动172次，关怀病友637人次，志愿者服务504人次。
From Oct. 2022 to Dec. 2023, we accommodated a total of 227 families comprising 579 patients. We organized 172 care events, offering care to 637 patients and receiving services from 504 volunteers.
方舟之家的主要活动包括 Main servicesof Ark Home:
- 方舟妈妈团：方舟的志愿者妈妈们常来探访小家病童，还带着孩子们出门领略城市风光，去迪士尼乐园，水族馆。
Ark Volunteer Mothers: to visit sick children in Little Home as well as take them out for city tour including Disneyland and aquarium.
- 方舟学堂：针对身患重疾的儿童，学堂特地设置了生命教育课程。用游戏、手工、表演、读绘本、讨论等多样形式，让孩子们学会道谢、道爱、道歉、道别。
Ark School: Life education designed especially for sick students. Teach children to say “love” “thank you”, “sorry” and “goodbye” by games, handcraft, performance, reading and discussion etc.
2023年，方舟学堂在服务患儿的同时，启动了家长课堂。4月，学堂的生命教育课堂进入了瑞金医院的儿童病房。8月，第四届方舟生命教育夏令营顺利举办。健康青少年牵手方舟病童，一同学习，一同玩乐，让生命影响生命。
Ark School initiated parent classes while serving the sick children in 2023. In addition, Ark Mobile School brought life education courses to the pediatric ward at Ruijin Hospital in April. The Fourth Ark Life Education Summer Camp was also successfully held in August. Healthy youth joined hands with Ark's sick children, learning and playing together, with lives influencing one another.
- 家长课堂：为病童家长开设，交流育儿经验，学习育儿技巧
Parent Class: Set up for sick children’s fathers and mothers for parenting experience sharing and skills learning.
- 瑞金儿科病房移动学堂：针对身患重疾的儿童，学堂特地设置了生命教育课程。用游戏、手工、表演、读绘本、讨论等多样形式，让孩子们学会道谢、道爱、道歉、道别。
- Ruijin Pediatric Ward Mobile School: For children with serious illnesses, Ark School has specially designed life education courses. Through various forms such as games, crafts, performances, reading picture books, and discussions, children learn to express gratitude, love, apologies, and farewells.

方舟良善市集：方舟关怀每个月举办良善市集，利用指定的公益场所，组织有爱心人士捐赠并参与志愿者组织的出售闲置物品义卖活动，为患儿和安宁患者筹集相关需要，与此同时，也帮助青少年儿童志愿者们塑造品格，肯定自我和珍爱家人，同时向公众倡导公益活动。
Ark Charity Market: Ark Care holds Charity Market every month, utilizing designated public welfare venues to organize youth and children to sell idle items in a charity sale, raising funds for sick children and life-end patients. At the same time, it also helps shape the character of young volunteers, affirming themselves and cherishing their families, while advocating charitable activities to the public.

慧慧的故事 Story of Huihui
来自安徽界首县13岁骨肉瘤女孩慧慧在瑞金医院医生的推荐下2023年5月份入住方舟康桥小家，孩子来到小家感受很亲切，跟自己家一样，在爱心志愿者与学堂老师的关心与陪伴下，小姑娘勇敢面对病魔，每天积极乐观的面对每一天。当最终的离别即将来临时，方舟学堂的老师们和志愿者们组织爱心捐款，在慧慧生命的最后，送她回到了故乡。2023年12月4号凌晨，慧慧在她最爱的家乡离开了人世。
In May 2023, a 13-year-old girl named Huihui from Jieshou County, Anhui, suffering from osteosarcoma, was recommended by doctors at Ruijin Hospital to stay at the Ark Home in Kangqiao. She felt very comfortable there, just like her own family. With the care and companionship of loving volunteers and teachers, the young girl bravely faced her illness, staying positive and optimistic every day. When the time of her final farewell approached, the teachers and volunteers from the Ark organized a donation to send her back to her hometown. On December 4, 2023, in the early morning, Huihui passed away in her beloved hometown.
方舟多加生命关怀Ark Dorcas Palliative Care Project
当前需生命末期关怀的人数众多，以重症儿童与老人尤为迫切。孩子就是家庭的“宝”，晚期癌症儿童家庭，在经历与“肿瘤君”漫长的战役后，不得不直面最终的诀别。患儿需要被呵护，被宝贝，被照顾；家长更需要被理解，被支持。需要心理疏导，需要生活支持，需要喘息服务，需要医疗上的便利以及后事安排上的协助。
重症末期的老人，除了缓解疼痛，生活照护之外，更需要心理情感、社会关系及生命关怀等方面的支持以舒缓压力，调适心态，以平安之心走过人生幽谷。
而对于失去了孩子或亲人的家属们，他们更需要哀伤辅导支持陪伴渡过悲伤。
为此，我们设立了“方舟多加生命关怀”项目，为晚期癌症儿童、老人等提供探访关怀及志愿者培训等公益慈善服务。
Seriously ill patients in the end-of-life stage, especially children and older people, require palliative care. Having been fighting against cancer for ages, families of cancer children are confronting the moment of final farewell. Sick children should be loved and looked after, while their parents need psychological support, care support, nursing services, medical facilitation, and funeral assistance.
Aged people in terminal conditions should be entitled to psychological, social, and care support to relieve stress, readjust their attitude and live a peaceful life at the end stage of life.
Families losing their children or loved ones need grief counseling and companionship to get through the sadness.
Therefore, we set up “Ark Dorcas Palliative Care Project” to provide care services or visit children and aged people with terminal cancer at home. Moreover, relevant training for volunteers is arranged periodically.

Affiliated to Ark Dorcas Charity Program, “Ark Dorcas Palliative Care Project” was set up in April, 2019. Since the full resumption of offline activities in Feb. 2023, Ark Dorcas Life Care Project has introduced new services, including patient support for the palliative care and rehabilitation wards at Yingbo Community Hospital, companionship for elderly residents at Yinkang Elderly Apartments, and community services for childless older adults.
On November 20, 2023, Ark held its "Song of Love" Annual Report Meeting and Thanksgiving Concert, attracting over 600 attendees and 3,300 online viewers, with 85,000 clicks. The event supported critically ill and terminally ill patients. Additionally, the Ark's "Five Paths of Life" life education course was introduced at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, benefiting 120 students with an immersive educational experience.

On November 20, 2023, Ark held its "Song of Love" Annual Report Meeting and Thanksgiving Concert, attracting over 600 attendees and 3,300 online viewers, with 85,000 clicks. The event supported critically ill and terminally ill patients.
2022年10月至2023年12月，我们共举办了10场培训和督导，共285人次参加。方舟“五道人生”生命教育课成功走进了上海理工大学的校园，为120名在校大学生带来了耳目一新的沉浸式生命教育体验。

轩轩的故事
从2019年因骨恶性肿瘤，从浙江来到上海治病算起，到2022年离世，轩轩在方舟之家住了整整两年。爸爸说，轩轩以方舟为家，在小家管理员、方舟学堂老师们和志愿者们的照顾下，渡过了人生最后，也是最开心的两年。学堂的老师们按照儿童生命关怀内容，悉心教导和陪伴轩轩。引导轩轩和爸爸妈妈道谢，道爱，道歉，道别和道路。轩轩去世后，还安排了追思会，并陪伴父母渡过哀伤。善终是福，轩轩在爱中平安离世，不留遗憾，成为大家怀念的方舟小天使。
Xuan’s Story
From 2019 to 2022, Xuan was living in Ark Home. The boy and his family travelled from Zhejiang Province to Shanghai for medical treatments of bone cancer. According to Xuan’s fathers, the last two years in his life was also his most hilarious time as the boy was loved and looked after by Ark administer, teachers of Ark School and volunteers. Ark teachers applied the modality of Child End-of-Life Care in the service, guiding the family to express love, gratitude and forgiveness. When Xuan’s physical condition deteriorated, teachers arranged parents to say goodbye and shared hope through death with parents. Dying in peace and no regret left, Xuan, the little angel of Ark, was a blessed child.
J是一位很优秀的女性，曾任沪上某知名外资银行行长。癌症复发后，她变的非常虚弱。之后，腰椎转移，骨转移，胸腔转移，淋巴转移让J不得不面对生命的尽头，面对她的悲哀、她的恐惧、她的遗憾、她的不舍……
方舟的同工们定期去医院去J的家里探访她，倾听她的故事，与她一同哭泣，一同面对身体的疼痛与内心的恐惧。
最后，J走的很平静。她向家人交代了后事，喝了两勺蛋白质粉，说了声“好吃”，便沉沉睡去，永归安宁。
J’s Story
J was an outstanding woman who once served as the president of a well-known foreign bank in Shanghai. After the recurrence of her cancer, she became very weak. Subsequent metastases to her lumbar spine, bones, thoracic cavity, and lymph nodes forced J to confront the end of her life, her sorrow, her fear, her regrets, her reluctance...
The staff of the Ark regularly visited J at the hospital and her home to listen to her stories, cry with her, and face the physical pain and inner fears together.
In the end, J passed away peacefully. She made arrangements for after her passing with her family, took two spoonfuls of protein powder, said "tasty," and then fell into a deep sleep, finding eternal peace.
